Missing

Mom-1

I was reading Not Yet a Whino, one of my favorite blogs, and her most recent post struck something inside me.  She wrote about losing her father 2 years ago and how that's changed and impacted her life.  I have been thinking about my mom a lot lately.  In June, it will be 10 years since she's been gone.  With my wedding just 2 short months away, it has definitely brought her absense painfully to the surface.  I can't tell you how many vendors have referenced her multiple times while talking about flowers or dresses or hair.  I hate that I have to sit there and smile and nod my head because I don't want to tell them she's gone and make them feel bad about bringing her up.

She was such an amazing woman and I feel lucky that I had 21 years with her - but I just wish she would have been able to see the woman that I grew up to be.  I was still in my baggy pants and a pierced nose is awesome, and no way I want to have kids phase.  I know she was worried that I wouldn't grow out of it....but I was a college punk kid who thought I knew everything.  I realize now at at 32 I didn't know crap back then - and it sucks that she isnt' here to see the transformation from thrift store t-shirts and techno music to a woman who has a great job, a great guy and basically a great adult life.  I like to think she'd be very proud of me.

But anyway, it's events like this, happy exciting ones like marrying the most wonderful man in the world, that make me heartbroken that she can't be here.  To help me pick out what hairstyle I should go with, or what to do with a vendor not returning my calls.  Most of the details are figured out and I've been having a great time.  I just wish she was here.  I know she is in a way....

I love you mom.

It's been a while - more jewelry making craftiness

Sorry I have been absent on my posting lately.  We have been super busy at work and wedding planning is in full swing on the weekends.  I am so excited - it's only 2 months away.  I still have been finding time to do my new hobby of jewelry making and have included some pictures of my latest work.  I definitely want to open an etsy store once I can focus on it.  In the meantime I'm learning more and more every day.  Speaking of learning I'm taking a wiring class in April - can't wait.  Well, that's about it for now.  Hope you all like my latest work! (and by you all - I mean the 2 people who actually read this thing!)  Hi Tori and Deb! I wonder...does anyone else read this?

I want! The Kelly Moore Camera Bag

So even though I have been totally slacking on my photography (give me a break people - I'm planning a wedding here!!) I would love this bag.  When I was using the camera more, I searched high and low for a decent bag that looked nice while still offering protection to my Nikon.  Needless to say, I never found it and then got completey distracted with other things.  Well, I'd like to pick it back up and get back into learning how to take awesome shots and this bag would be the pefect accessory to tote my camera in.  Unfortunately this bag isn't cheap ($250! eep!)but it sure is purdy.  Here are the stats from the Kelly Moore site:

This bag can carry: 1 camera body,; 1 flash; 2-4 lenses; camera cords; camera body; phone; wallet and you'll still have room for more.
It's padded, water resistant and has removable dividers AND it comes in 7 beautiful colors!

iphone flash - I want!

Beamer

I was reading MightyGoods today and she wrote about this iphone case that has a built in flash.  That's the one gripe I still had about the iphone camera - when it's dark there's no way to take a picture.  Here is the solutions friends!  Apparently it's only available for pre-order now.  $38 smakers and you can take pictures in the dark - score!

Winter Blues

Flowers

I have a serious case of the winter blues.  I am craving some warm weather, not having to wear scarves and gloves.  Oh how I would love to smell some freshly cut lawn.  I went back to my photos and found one that I took back in April 09 when Sean and I went to Sherwood Gardens in Baltimore.  It's a beautiful tulip garden right near Johns Hopkins University. (Poor Sean had such bad allergies but he was a trooper!)  Seeing those pretty flowers made me smile for a moment - I hope they can do the same for you right now.  Happy Friday everyone...spring is just around the corner (right?!)
